General Trivia
Graham Coxon,
blur's legendary guitarist, and blur parted company over the winter of 2002/03
while the band were recording in Morocco so this is the first (and hopefully
not the last!) post Coxon album. The new guitarist is Simon Tong who used
to be with The Verve and apparently taught Ashcroft to play. Cover Artwork was done by a graffiti artist
called Banksy hailing from Bristol, check out his web
site, its very cool. All songs, unless stated are Produced by Blur
and Ben Hillier. Know more trivia? then email me and Ill add it
in willkay@blurtalk.com
Ambulance
Out Of Time
First single on the Album. Chilled out song with a political anti war edge as in the title 'World is spinning gently out of time' - Video is a slideshow of a documentary about a lonely navy girl on a ship full of men.. check out blur.co.uk to watch it. Seems to be only a UK single release.
Crazy Beat
Second single on the Album, jumpy pop song which should do very well in the teenage run charts of both UK and USA, great to jump around to. Was most added tune to American radio stations in mid March. Crazy Beat is one of the 3 on the album to have been recorded in Morocco. This was produced by Blur / Hillier / Norman Cook.
Good Song
On The Way To The Club
Co-written by James Dring (Damon's Cousin) who also previously worked as assistant engineer on 'Black Book' and has also worked with Gorillaz.
Brothers & Sisters
The instrument Damon plays at the end of this is a Korg Vocoder (Gary Taylor BFC)
Caravan
We’ve Got A File On You
Short full of energy track reminiscent of Globe Alone or something similar.
Moroccan Peoples Revolutionary Bowls Club
is one of the 3 on the album to have been recorded in Morocco.
Sweet Song
is believed by many people to have been written about Graham and is produced by Blur / Hillier / William Orbit
Jets
Co written (and played) by Mike Smith who has toured with Blur since The Great Escape seaside shows at least... playing Sax with the other horn players. He's also toured with Gorillaz, and played piano, sax, and acted as conductor/arranger on the Mali Music shows.
Gene By Gene
is one of the 3 on the album to have been recorded in Morocco. This was produced by Blur / Hillier / Norman Cook
Battery In Your Leg
This is the only song featuring Graham Coxon. Damon, in interview, said the making of this track was the last time the 4some felt really right together.
My White Noise
Apparently almost
named 'Darklife' the lyrics are provided by Phil Daniels who also did
the speaking on 'Parklife'.
This track can be found by doing a manual rewind (Search) from track 1
on the album.
The Limited edition Think Tank CD.
Official confirmation today states that it will contain an enhanced section featuring live footage from the MTV show (Ambulance, Out Of Time, Crazy Beat and Caravan), plus a booklet with song ideas and lyrics.
